Clinical Study of Femoral Neck Fractures

Abstract
We analyzed seventy one fractures on femoral neck treated with surgery and followed for more than 1 year at Seoul Red Cross Hospital from January 1990 to June 1994.
@ES The results were as follows.
@EN 1) The most frequent occurrent age in femoral neck fractures was over the 7th decade (73%) and the most common cause was slip down(81.3%).
2) The most common location of fracture was transcervical accordint to anatomic classification and the most common type of fracture was Garden's type IV accordint to displacement.
3) After internal fixation, 2 cases(8%) of avascular necrosis, 1 case94%) of non-union and 1 cases(4%) of pin loosening occurred. After endoprosthesis, 2 cases(4%) of dislocation, 1 cases(2%) of femoral stem losening and 2 cases(4%) of
acetabular
protrusion.
4) The results were evaluated by the Lunceford criteria. The combined result of 'excellent' and 'good' were obtained in 84% of 25 internal fixation cases, 78% of 45 endoprothesis cases.
It was concluded that we could get similiar result by 2 surgical methods if reasonable criteria of indication were applid.
